Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Monday morning's two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred on Highway 99E near McFarland Road in Linn County. The names of the involved adult female drivers are released in this update.
On October 13, 2014 at approximately 8:10 a.m., a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by ELLEN L. MARY, age 67, from Albany, was southbound on Highway 99E near milepost 6. For an unknown reason, it crossed the center turn lane and left northbound lane where it crashed head-on with a 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup in the right northbound lane.
ELLEN MARY was transported by ground ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
The Chevrolet pickup's driver, KARENETTA J. ADAMS, age 60, from Sweet Home, was transported initially by ground ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and then taken by REACH air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.
OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing to gather information to determine the cause of the crash. Heavy fog was reported in the area at the time. Senior Trooper Nathan House is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Linn County Sheriff's Office, Albany Police Department, Tangent Rural Fire District, Albany Fire Department, and ODOT.
