ROBBERY LEADS TO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
On Sunday, November 16, 2014, Officers from the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath Falls Police Department, and the Oregon State Police, pursued a Robbery suspect who fled with cash stolen from Frontier Market, located at the corner of Shasta Way and Summers Lane in Klamath Falls.
Officers pursued the Robbery suspect and gunfire was exchanged. The suspect, Lenny Miles (DOB 1-8-77), was pronounced deceased at Sky Lakes Medical Center at 9:41 p.m. No officers were injured from the gunfire.
Miles had warrants out for his arrest that involved four separate cases in Klamath County including: Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Escape in the Third Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Strangulation, Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
Because officers from all three Klamath County Major Crime Team law enforcement agencies were involved in the shooting, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office has agreed to lead the investigation.
The Klamath County Major Crime Team is comprised of the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath Falls Police Department, Oregon State Police, Klamath County Community Corrections, and Klamath County District Attorney's Office.
