On August 21, 2015 at about 11:10 p.m., OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 99W, near milepost 31.5, just north of Lafayette.
According to Sergeant Brad Hessel, 1990 Ford Crown Victoria operated by David LOGSDON, age 60, and passenger, Diane LOGSDON, of McMinnville, was traveling northbound on Highway 99W when a 2000 Acura Integra operated by Fernando LOPEZ, age 21, of McMinnville, pulled out from SE Locks Loop Road onto Highway 99W, into the path of LOGSDON's vehicle. LOGSDON's vehicle collided with LOPEZ's driver's side door.
LOPEZ was pronounced deceased upon emergency crews arriving. David LOGSDON and Diane LOGSDON were transported to McMinnville hospital for minor injuries.
The highway was closed for about three hours while the investigation was conducted. OSP was assisted by the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, McMinnville Fire, Dayton Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The investigation is still continuing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
