On September 14, 2015 at approximately 4:10am the Oregon State Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 84 westbound near milepost 223 (east of Pendleton).
An OSP Trooper was called out from their residence and responded to the crash scene. Investigation revealed a 2005 Volvo semi-truck and trailer combination owned by FASCO Transport LLC. of Auburn, Washington was traveling westbound negotiating a curve when the vehicle traveled onto the south shoulder and rolled over. The semi-truck and trailer suffered extensive damage and its cargo of frozen chicken was spilled onto the shoulder.
The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Vasyl PRYMACHUK, age 55 of Tacoma, Washington was entrapped in the vehicle for several hours. After PRYMACHUK was freed from the vehicle he was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital in Pendleton for treatment of minor injuries.
PRYMACHUK was treated and released from the hospital. Following his release from the hospital, PRYMACHUK was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Reckless Driving. PRYMACHUK was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail.
The roadway remained closed for a short time during the investigation and was closed intermittently throughout the day to allow for cleanup of the crash scene.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Umatilla Tribal Police Department, Umatilla Tribal Fire Department, Pendleton Fire and Ambulance, Life Flight, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
