On Friday, October 2, 2015, at 1:00PM, 44 of the newest Oregon State Police (OSP) Recruit Troopers will graduate from the OSP Academy at the Oregon Public Safety Academy (OPSA) in Salem.
This day represents the culmination of 26-weeks of intensive police training these recruits have undergone and is the basis for which they will begin their law enforcement careers.
On February 14, 2015, all 44 recruits began an intensive 4 week pre-academy training before earning their OSP badge. All but 12 of these recruits, having lateraled to the department from other agencies, attended the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Academy at OPSA as a part of Basic Police Class 350 (BP350), earning top honors from DPSST throughout. After completing the Basic Police Academy all 44 recruits returned for the 6-week OSP Post-Academy.
The recruits will be assigned to the state in the following divisions and geographic locations:
Central Point Area Command - 1 Patrol
Coos Bay Area Command - 4 Patrol
Gold Beach Worksite - 2 Patrol
Grants Pass Area Command - 4 Patrol
Hermiston Worksite - 1 Patrol
Klamath Falls Area Command - 6 Patrol
La Grande Area Command - 1 Patrol
Lakeview Worksite - 1 Patrol
Newport Area Command - 1 Fish and Wildlife
North Plains Worksite - 1 Patrol
Oakridge Worksite - 1 Patrol
Ontario Area Command - 2 Patrol
Pendleton Patrol - 1 Patrol
Portland Area Command - 5 Patrol
Salem Area Command - 5 Patrol
Springfield Area Command - 3 Patrol
St. Helens Worksite - 1 Patrol
