A Forest Grove couple was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when their motorcycle and crashed along Highway 20 about three miles west of the Santiam Pass summit. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation.
On July 28, 2013 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle operated by RICKIE RAY TAYLOR, age 61, from Forest Grove, was westbound on a downhill grade of Highway 20 near milepost 78 negotiating a left curve. The motorcycle traveled onto the right shoulder and sideswiped a guardrail and then laid onto its side, sliding until it came to rest off the highway.
RICKIE RAY TAYLOR was seriously injured and transported by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was wearing a protective helmet.
Passenger LAURA TAYLOR, age 62, was ejected from the motorcycle onto an embankment. She was taken by ground ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend and was also wearing a protective helmet.
OSP is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Speed is not believed to be a contributing factor. Trooper Ray Stallsworth is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by local fire and police, including Black Butte Ranch Police Department, and ODOT.
