On December 29, 2015 at about 12:23AM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a passenger vehicle versus a semi-truck on Interstate 5 at milepost 150 (just north of Rice Hill).

Preliminary information indicates a 2016 Honda sport utility was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5 when it collided with a northbound 2016 Freightliner tractor head-on. The passenger, Deanna L TEAVEN, age 35, of Drain was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency personnel. The driver, Charles B JONES, age 39, also of Drain, was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center Riverbend for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner, Ruben MACIAS SOLORZANO, age 23, of Santa Ana, California, was not injured. The truck, registered to England Trucking, was towing a box trailer loaded with powdered coffee creamer. After the impact with the Honda, it rolled over onto its side spilling the contents.

One northbound lane of I-5 was closed for over six hours. OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Alcohol is being considered a contributing factor to the crash.

This is an ongoing criminal investigation. More information will be released when it becomes available.
