Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation and gathering information related to Sunday afternoon's multi-vehicle serious injury crash along Highway 58 about two miles west of Oakridge. The highway was blocked, completely and later partially, and OSP and ODOT are working to clear the scene.
Preliminary information indicates on August 4, 2013 at approximately 4:40 p.m., three vehicles traveling eastbound on Highway 58 were involved in a chain reaction crash at the intersection with West Fir Road. One of the vehicles, a pickup with camper, veered after impact into the westbound lane where it was involved in a secondary crash with a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer.
Oakridge Fire Department personnel extricated the pickup's driver. He was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
No other injuries have been reported at this time. OSP troopers from the Oakridge and Springfield office responded along with ODOT personnel. Senior Trooper Erich Schermerhorn is the lead investigator.
The highway has been completely or partially blocked since the crash happened. Traffic updates can be monitored at TripCheck.com.
No names or other information for release at this time.
