On October 18, 2017 at about 5:30AM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of two vehicle crash on Highway 212 west of Damascus near SE Wyeast Avenue.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2000 Toyota Camry. The driver of the Toyota, a 20 year old female, was critically injured and taken to an area hospital. Following the crash, the driver of the Ford fled the scene. He was described by witnesses as a white male in his twenties, slim build and dark hair.
A Washington County Sheriff's Office responded and deployed a K9 to assist with the search. After a lengthy search the driver was not located. Anyone who has information about this crash or who the driver may be is urged to call OSP at 503-375-3555. Highway 212 is closed but expected to open around 9AM. ODOT has an established detour in place.
