On January 26, 2018 at about 4:45AM OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of two vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 26 (Rueben Lane in the City of Sandy).
Preliminary investigation revealed a 1997 Jaguar Coupe was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 26 (5 lane highway). An eastbound commercial tanker truck towing two fuel trailers collided with the Jaguar nearly head-on. The driver of the Jaguar, driven by a 71 year old Sandy man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 49 year old male from Fairview, was not injured.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 26 were closed most of the morning with a detour in place. More information will be released as it becomes available. OSP was assisted Sandy Police Department, Sandy Fire Department and Oregon Department of Transportation .
