Two people were taken into custody and third person wasn't located following an attempt to elude and a several hour search in a remote area of south Jefferson County east of Haystack Reservoir.

Preliminary information indicates on February 25, 2014 at approximately 10:32 a.m., an OSP sergeant attempted to stop a green 1999 Dodge Intrepid displaying Washington license plates for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph speed zone on Highway 97 near milepost 101 south of Madras. The driver failed to yield and attempted to elude OSP, turning off Highway 97 onto SW Bear Drive where the sergeant lost sight of the vehicle.

OSP notified other law enforcement agencies as additional OSP personnel responded to the area. About an hour later, vehicle tracks were found west of SE Jasper Road near SE Imbler Lane and the confirmed stolen vehicle was located unoccupied about 12:07 p.m.

With the assistance of Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement and Warm Springs Police Department K-9, OSP troopers continued searching the area. At approximately 1:30 p.m., three suspects were located. One of the suspects, an adult male, fled on foot while officers took the female driver and a male passenger into custody.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., OSP and assisting officers concluded the area search without finding the third suspect. The female and male suspects were transported to Jefferson County Jail for further processing and investigation.

No other information or names to be released at this time.
