A log truck driver received minor injuries Monday after losing control resulting in the truck and trailer loaded with logs coming to rest on their side in Phillips Creek along Highway 204 about a mile west of Elgin.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Walt Anderson, on March 24, 2014 at approximately 4:35 p.m., a Freightliner truck pulling a loaded log trailer driven by JUSTIN K. WRIGHT, age 33, from Summerville, was eastbound on Highway 204 near milepost 39. As the truck and trailer came out of a right curve, it traveled onto the shoulder and continued down the embankment into the river where it came to rest on its right side.

WRIGHT freed himself from the truck and got out on his own. He had minor injuries and was cited for Fail to Drive Within a Lane.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Union County Sheriff's Office, Elgin Rural Fire Protection District, and ODOT. DEQ was notified to assess any environmental impact. There is no information regarding a diesel spill from the truck.

ODOT and the logging company are on scene to remove the truck, trailer and logs from the creek.

Both lanes are potentially affected during recovery work. Traffic updates at TripCheck.com.
