Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of a single vehicle fatal traffic crash found Wednesday morning off the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 between the Gladstone and Park Place interchanges. The victim's name is released in this update.

On May 21, 2014 at approximately 7:15 a.m., OSP Northern Command Center dispatch received a report of a single vehicle traffic crash along Interstate 205 southbound lanes near milepost 10. OSP troopers responded to the scene with Gladstone Fire Department and AMR ambulance. Emergency responders arrived and found a 2000 Honda Civic against a tree off the freeway lanes. The 19-year old female driver, CHEYANNE LYNE BLACK from Salem, was found inside the car and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Initial investigation indicates the collision happened during the early morning hours prior to the crash being reported. The Honda was southbound when, for an unknown reason, the driver lost control and the car rotated 180 degrees as it slid off the southbound side of the freeway and struck a tree.

Anyone who was with the victim during the night prior to the crash or who witnessed the crash is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center at (800) 452-7888.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Gladstone Fire Department, Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office, and ODOT. Senior Trooper Dan Swift is the lead investigator.
