According to Lake County Sheriff Phil McDonald, all search and rescue personnel and resources are leaving the area after KEVIN MULERT, age 18, was found alive Thursday morning by searchers on horseback about 1.5 miles southeast of the camp he was reported missing from in northern Lake County.

Updated information from Sheriff McDonald related to the search:

* Lake County Sheriff's Office was notified Wednesday, July 30, at 10:45 a.m. that Kevin Mulert was missing. The sheriff's office immediately started gathering resources and personnel. Two helicopters, one from the Oregon National Guard and one from Emergency Air Lift out of Klamath Falls, were searching the area by air at about 2:30 p.m. Personnel and resources began arriving on the ground about 3:00 p.m.

* Searchers looked for Mulert until about 12:30 a.m. and then started again Thursday at daylight.

* Approximately 30 search and rescue personnel from Lake County, Deschutes County, and Klamath County were involved in Thursday's search. Personnel and resources provided by Jackson County Sheriff's Office were about 15 minutes from the search area when Mulert was found.

* Sheriff McDonald identified the three searchers who found Mulert as Norma Angelee, Deanie Sheridan, and Dennis Sheridan (photograph provided with release). They are members of the Lake County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue team.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office website, the search and rescue team is comprised of citizen volunteers, who often providing their own equipment, that provide search and rescue services for the Sheriff's Office. Many members maintain their own specialty including aircraft operation and air scent dogs. During recent years, in addition to traditional searches for missing persons, SAR has been used for deceased recovery, crime scene search, and mutual aid with adjoining and nearby counties.

An Oregon State Police (OSP) detective is enroute to the hospital to conduct a follow up interview.
