Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into an early Tuesday morning single vehicle traffic crash along Interstate 5 near the Donald/Aurora interchange that seriously injured a Vancouver, Washington man. Preliminary investigation indicates alcohol is a contributing factor and charges are pending.
On December 3, 2013 at approximately 2:40 a.m., a 2004 Hyundai passenger car driven by LIONEL B. POOLAW, age 32, from Vancouver, Washington, was involved in a single vehicle crash along the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 278. POOLAW was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment of serious injuries. The southbound lanes were blocked for about a half hour for LifeFlight landing and transport.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Marion County Sheriff's Office, Aurora Fire District, Woodburn Ambulance, Hubbard Police Department and ODOT.
Charges are pending in Marion County Circuit Court for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
