A commercial truck driver received minor injuries Tuesday morning when his truck and semi-trailer overturned onto the side of Highway 228 in front of Central Linn High School in Linn County.
On December 3, 2013 at approximately 7:44 a.m., a 1994 Freightliner truck pulling a semi-trailer driven by CALVIN COWDREY, age 56, from Harrisburg, was eastbound on Highway 228 near milepost 1 when the right side tires on the trailer went across the fog line. The rear of the trailer slid off the icy shoulder into a ditch where the trailer and truck rolled onto its side.
COWDREY was transported by ambulance to Albany General Hospital with minor injuries.
The trailer was loaded with bags of grass seed which had to be unloaded by hand before a tow truck could upright both truck and trailer. ODOT remained on scene until the highway was fully opened after the seed was off-loaded and vehicles removed.
OSP was also assisted on scene by Linn County Sheriff's Office and Halsey Shedd Fire Protection District.
Trooper Phillip Van Leuven is the lead investigator.
