Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Tuesday night's two vehicle serious injury traffic crash that occurred northbound on Interstate 5 about two miles north of Sutherlin. The crash closed the northbound lanes for about two hours.

On March 4, 2014 at approximately 8:50 p.m., a 1985 Dodge pickup driven by JOSEPH REITMEIER, age 30, from Medford, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 138 when the right rear tire blew out causing the pickup to spin into the center concrete divider. After coming to a stop, the pickup was facing southbound in the northbound lane and was struck nearly head-on by a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo driven by CHRISTINA DANIELS, age 40, from Drain. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the northbound lanes.

DANIELS was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries.

REITMEIER was not reported to be injured requiring hospital transport.

OSP troopers from the Roseburg Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Dan Wells is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Douglas County Fire District No. 2, Oakland Rural Fire District, Sutherlin Police Department and ODOT.
