20W in the Santiam Highway Pass area was blocked 90 minutes Saturday morning after a commercial truck and semi-trailer jackknifed across the highway. The driver was not injured and was cited by Oregon State Police (OSP) following an investigation into the crash.
On April 26, 2014 at approximately 7:00 a.m., a 2003 International truck pulling a semi-trailer driven by HECTOR LOPEZ VIAY, age not available, from Beaverton, was westbound on Highway 20W near milepost 85 when the driver lost control on the icy roadway. The truck drove off the westbound shoulder, struck a cement barrier and traveled across the eastbound lane into the guardrail. The truck and semi-trailer came to an uncontrolled rest blocking both lanes.
OSP, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Black Butte Police Department and ODOT responded to the scene of the non-injury crash.
The driver was cited by OSP for Fail to Drive Within Lane. Senior Trooper Aaron Roth is the lead investigator.
Both lanes were blocked for 90 minutes before one lane was opened. All lanes were cleared about 10:30 a.m.
